Easter break
Posted on: April 5, 2009No comments yet
Not very PC of us, but if you want an Easter break from your kids for half and hour we recommend a Chupa Chups sugar free lolly (if your kid is old enough) – guaranteed to keep them hush hush for as long as it lasts.
Chupa Chups was originally a Spanish brand, the name coming from the Spanish verb Chupa ‘to suck’ and the logo was based on a concept sketch by no less than Salvador Dali. Useful info to impress the newsagent.
Of course they’re not just for kids.
Exhibit A

Shocking news, we have discovered there has been an intruder at KidSoup HQ! Someone has entered our office without consent and has been messing around with the photocopier. They left behind some incriminating evidence (above) which could just help with the investigation.
Barbie Everything Girl gets our vote!

With Barbie celebrating her 50th birthday this year there’s an upgraded website ‘Barbie Everything Girl’ with some really cool Web based games (so we’re told!). At least one of our daughters has abandoned a serious TV watching habit to style Princesses and interact with this site. Is that progress? Go straight to the games here.
Lelli Kelly colour!

My Daughter (6) has suddenly got a thing for Lelli Kelly shoes, she doesn’t own any but we had a hunt around and found this picture online to download and colour. Nice bit of marketing. You can find the picture here. The colouring was done using Photoshop software, she picked a few commands up in just a couple of mins. Wonder if I can teach her to edit video shows?
Toy Fair – no kids allowed

Alex and I had an amusing time at the London Toyfair last week. It was quite weird being in a hall full of toys and no kids just Toy sellers in suits. The event is trade only so kids are banned – it did feel like the Childcatcher from Chitty Chitty Bang Bang had paid a visit.
You can now watch KidSoup’s exclusive video report on the toys that caught our eye, like this clever robot the Prime8.
Obama Vs CBeebies

Next time there is a US Presidential inauguration can you please schedule it so it doesn’t coincide with return from school time in the UK.
Why? Because that’s the time when the TV is occupied by Cbeebies (Kids TV). We had the mother of all battles with our kids who weren’t interested in Obama being sworn in, what his Mrs. was wearing or even how lovely his daughters are.
No they wanted Fireman Sam, Handy Manny or anything but Mr. President. We decided we weren’t going to miss history for Harry and his bucket full of whatever so we tried to keep the TV on Sky News on as long as we could hold the enemy, hoping to see the moment of swearing in.
“Why this going on so long, too boring!” said my girl during the mimed classical quartet peformance.
Finally as the tension grew at the Whitehouse and in our house, my son switched off the TV in protest right as the critical moment. We couldn’t get the TV back on quick enough due to a dodgy remote control so we missed Mr. O and accomplice fluffing the oath live. We conceded defeat to the Beebies and had to watch the highlights later on Newsnight before, war weary, we retired to bed. What an exhausting day and we didn’t even have to attend five balls.
Madagascar 2 – go see it!

We went to see Madagsacar 2 – Escape to Africa over the weekend. It’s an absolute blast. None of us had seen the first Madagascar so hadn’t a clue what to expect but it was great, oh yes and ‘the Kid’ (aged 6) loved it too! It’s got loads of laughs, fantastic graphics and little in jokes about ‘love and relationships’ for Mums and Dads plus a rocking soundtrack.
The film is about the continuing adventures of Alex the Lion, Gloria the Hippo, Marty the Zebra and Melman the Giraffe. It stars the voices of Ben Stiller, Chris Rock, Jada Pinkett Smith, David Schwimmer, Sacha Baron Cohen, Cedric the Entertainer and Andy Richter. Also providing voices are Alec Baldwin, will.i.am, Bernie Mac and Sherri Shepherd.
Trust us find a cinema with a big screen and go wild at the pick and mix. It beats watching Bratz reruns on the box whilst staring at the contents of the toybox littered across the lounge!
