Girls Go Games

Right now the KidSoup Girls can’t get enough of Girls Go Games (UK/US) This free site has loads of Girl friendly games and is especially good for fashion and makeover play – a controversial subject we know. There are also some safer cooking themed games.

This site seems aimed at 9yr olds + (though younger girls will still love it) but we know it’s not to every parents taste. We have to monitor what the Kids get up to game by game as it’s hard to second guess the content.

Mostly we think it’s pretty creative and even if the Grandparents might frown.

Email’n Walk’n push the Pram!

Email'n Walk

Email’n Walk is a new App for your Iphone, that is if you can get the Kids off it for a minute! This crazy App is for people who write Emails on their Iphones whilst walking.

It uses the Iphones’ in built camera to give you a picture of the scene below as a background to your email. This means as you type you can see your feet, dog and in our case pram, so you don’t trip over little Johnny’s carriage whilst you compose your mail.

Video Edit

Currently editing the next Episode of KidSoup featuring the launch of HM Forces branded Action Figures. Definitely one for the boys or Mums who like soldiers for that matter!

If we can’t get Kid#2 of our Mac this edit could take a while. Seriously though, our Kids are suggesting cool items for the shows so if you have discovered great Kid stuff on the Web to enjoy together, places to go, stories, fashion or worthwhile toys and gadgets drop an email to: HQ@kidsoup.tv

Yooouuutuuube

In between editing the next Episode of KidSoup we’ve been distracted by a new site called Yooouuutuuube. Turn any of your YouTube Kid Vids into a Video mosaic work of art. (Freeze frame above)

Add a URL or use the search window and any YouTube video will load in the browser. The video plays individual frames in a grid with motion and audio, all laid out like a giant Video wall.

You can select the frame size and shuffle the images out of order. Can’t quite think why you need this but who cares – it’s fun.

If you want to see a video in action that the Kids will like, check out this mash up of Alice in Wonderland here.

Blenheim Palace

Blenheim Palace Adventure Playground

Blenheim Palace

No we haven’t moved to a larger HQ. KidSoup left behind our PC’s, Ipods and Nintendo’s and headed to the country this weekend to check out Blenheim Palace. Blenheim represents a big slice of British nostalgia and we reckon all our US twitter followers would love this crib!

Owned by the Duke of Marlborough the extensive property was built in the 1760’s to celebrate victory over the French during the Wars of the Spanish Succession. But it’s really famous for being the birth place of the grandson of the 7th Duke – none other than Sir Winston Churchill.

Baby Winston was born and lived here, you can even see the bed he was delivered in. Inside the house is an amazing tribute to what life was like for those who lived there, with one drawing room being about the entire floor space of the average British semi-detached house. (No photography allowed). Churchill was fond of Blenheim’s vast collection of miniature soldiers which are guaranteed to interest the Kids.

The grounds are stunning, we passed on picnicking with the £60 (US$91 Eur67) hamper for two but couldn’t resist Blenheim Ice Cream and homemade cakes outside on the Terrace. Kids will love the huge open lawns.

There’s also a mini-train to a Kids Adventure playground and Butterfly House (complete with Maze and giant outdoor chess + draughts). It’s fun but not as amazing as the House and grounds. Buy a ticket for a day visit and you can get a pass for free that will last a whole year. Overall this is a wicked place to go with the Kids.

PS. For Film buffs: Whilst were there we noticed dozens of film trucks, upcoming family Movie ‘Gulliver’s Travels (due 2010) is being shot at the Palace.

Hunt for Gollum

Something for older Kids if they are Lord of the Rings fans. A bunch of very clever people with a camera just 3x bigger than the one you shoot your Kids birthday party on have released a free film.

The Hunt for Gollum is a 40 minute non-profit film which cost less than $5,000 to make. It’s based on the apendicies of JRR Tolkein’s Classic Trilogy of books. You can watch it in HD here. You can see the trailer below.

DISCLAIMER: We haven’t watched it yet so have no idea what the scare factor is OR if you’ll be up all night trying to protect your offspring from invisible baddies. But hey it’s free!

Kevin

Meet Kevin, his Mum got in touch with KidSoup as he wants to break into Showbiz. We’ve used a bit of trickery via Photofunia to get him centre stage with Paris Hilton already!

But seriously we’re going to give Kevin a little helping hand in the Web TV biz. We’re going to put him on camera to record some links for a future episode of KidSoup – so watch this space!

Got a Kid you think should be featured on our site please drop us an email here: HQ@kidsoup.tv

Mispelt toys

Today we had to chuckle at these Chinese kids blocks. They were bought at a Morrisons shop in the UK. See if you can spell the words correctly! According to the ‘Daily Mirror’ the store is allowing the learning toys to ‘fizzle out’ rather than withdraw them from sale!
