When 7 year old Julian heard that the Spirit Mars Rover was stuck he came up with an idea to sort out the situation using the Camera Arm. NASA’s Jet Propulsion Lab (JPL) were apparemtly looking into this already and are sending Julian a gift for his efforts.
Sandpit Vegetable Garden

Someone in our sreet threw out this moulded Sandpit as their Kids had outgrown it. We already own an identical Sandpit (it was a good buy) so we decided to turn our newly acquired one into a mini vegetable patch!
Go Legoland

KidSoup paid a visit to Legoland, Windsor in the UK. It’s a great day out for Kids under 12. We chose to blog the pix we liked but of course there are lots of rides to queue for as well as the Lego.
Our favourite ride (great for younger Kids if they don’t get too scared of Trolls) is ‘Fairy Tale Brook’ where you can see all your favourite Fairy Story characters. If you want to know any specific recommendations or tips please drop an email to: HQ@kidsoup.tv
We didn’t test it but you can hire a Q-bot device which means you can input the ride code into the unit (pictured), no need to join the queue, you can do other things and then return at a specified time without ever missing your place.

Shark!

We’re not sure how well this this Jaw (!) dropping Shark Bite Water Slide sells in Australia. We think it might also be useful to scare the neighbours cat. Comes with 3d goggles.
The Caravan of Fairytales

KidSoup had a fantastic time today at the ‘Caravan of Fairytales’. It’s a good spirited festival on until 25th May in front of the Tate Modern Gallery, London.
The free event is a celebration of creativity and non-commercialism with loads of storytelling, drawing, arts, craft and theatre for Kids and Kidults. No Mickey Mouse outfits allowed.
More details about the concept here. If you can’t get there in person we filmed a special report so watch this space.

Gorillas Go Free at Chessington

Thanks to Carly at Chessington World of Adventures and Zoo (UK) for tipping us off about a half-term offer. The park supports the 2009 Year of the Gorilla, a world-wide appeal promoted by WAZA (World Association of Zoo’s and Aquaria).
There will be a variety of events going on throughout May half term including animal talks, presentations and Gorilla meet n’ greets. You can even get free entrance if you turn up dressed as a Gorilla! (Monday 25 May – Friday 29 May. Offer entitles one individual wearing a full gorilla suit one free entry to the park.)
This applies to both Kids and Adults. Not to be upstaged, we think the pink suit (above) is very on trend for Mums.
