Not so happily ever after …

Princess 1

Princess 2

These works by Vancouver photographer Dina Goldstein place Fairy Tale characters in modern day scenarios. In all of the images the Princess is placed in an environment that articulates her conflict. The ‘…happily ever after’ is replaced with a realistic outcome and addresses current issues.

I began to imagine Disney’s perfect Princesses juxtaposed with real issues that were affecting women around me, such as illness, addiction and self-image issues.

ghost train sign

Nothing better than a ghost train at a funfair to test your Kids nerve. This Mummy looked more worn out than we do and we couldn’t help giggling at the sign.

If KidSoup was a T Shirt we reckon it would look like this. We think the aptly named ‘Hangover’ T Shirt would turn a few heads at the local Parents Cafe and possibly get us lynched at the local Pub! We dare you to wear one, you can get it here.

food face

Continuing our exploration into what kids do with their food rather than eat it, especially if it’s nut cutlets on the menu rather than a beef burger. See the first example here.

KidSoup on Daily Motion

We’re pleased to report that KidSoup is now an Official Channel at leading Web video sharing site Dailymotion. This means they like us and our videos get to hang out in the family section with some media big brothers (see our video surrounded by CNN videos pictured above). Hopefully more people will discover what they’ve been missing.

Like many other Web video shows we want to be seen all over the Web. The show can travel, but on this site it comes back home to Mummy and Daddy! If you’re a Dailymotion fan please subscribe to KidSoup here.

key

We couldn’t find the key to the back door anywhere, spent ages looking for it in all the obvious places. It took some lateral thinking to discover someone under 4 foot tall had given it to the ‘guard dog’ for safe keeping!

Family Poster

The Smith family from Missouri in the USA posed for a Christmas portrait which they put on their social network and photo sharing sites. The family then had the surprise of their lives when a friend visiting Prague in the Czech Republic spotted the group on a billboard for a grocery store! The shop owner said he had thought the picture was computer generated and free to use and has promised to remove it.
