3d glasses

KidSoup went to the movies to see Monsters Vs Aliens 3D. Despite the Kid (6) wanting to see the non 3D version of the film that’s also playing around town (scared of the unknown?) we insisted on seeing the 3D version. Much more fun!

3D is back with a bang and there are quite a few movies filmed in 3D set for release this year – ‘TinTin’, ‘Alive in Wonderland’, ‘How to train your Dragon’ to name three.

We spent the first few minutes ducking out of the way of stuff that is ‘thrown’ at you through the screen to keep you on your toes. The Kids glasses were way too big so think they only saw the film in 2 and a half D (less scary). There ARE spooky and noisy moments throughout the film but nothing that would involve handing over the Kid to be looked after at the Pic’n'Mix so we get to see the ending! Monsters are all fairly cuddly, and Aliens not too nasty either.

Overall it’s a fun film, the 3D is spectacular but  the plot and script, though adequate, isn’t as sharp as some of our older  favourites like ‘Ratatouille’ or ‘Finding Nemo’. The voice of Hugh Laurie (as Dr.Cockroach Ph.D) is one highlight. We say – go see it. Check out the trailer with your Kid here to get approval first.

More behind the scenes.
